WPA3: Wi-Fi Protected Access
The latest Wi-Fi Protected Access has been here for a while, as the WPA standard was released in 2003 as a replacement for Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), one year later the second version of WPA was released, and now the third edition is being released, providing benefits to the Wi-Fi industry, businesses, and generally Wi-Fi users around the world.
The Wi-Fi Alliance introduced WPA3 as the next generation of Wi-Fi security, providing some of the most advanced protocols to the market while building on WPA2 started adding new features to simplify Wi-Fi security, and enabling more robust authentication, all while delivering increased cryptographic strength for highly sensitive data markets to maintain the resiliency of mission-critical networks.
All in all, WPA3 was released to address the shortcoming of its predecessors, patching security holes and increasing the overall security as WPA2 still had significant vulnerabilities that emerged over the past decade and caused disasters for numerous organizations.
