Established in 2003, Nile Radio Productions (NRP) is the home of NogoumFM 100.6 and NileFM 104.2 – Egypt’s first and leading hit Arabic and Radio music radio stations! In 2012, NRP decided to add to its incredible audio portfolio two music record labels, Nogoum Records and NRP Music, and in only two years, they launched many albums, including albums for Egyptian and Middle Eastern sensations. Ever since NRP’s launch, they have maintained their position as market and industry leaders in anything audio related and today we are regionally recognized as an audio production powerhouse.
Summary
VArrow Technologies is embarking on an exciting project to design and develop new websites and mobile apps for NogoumFM and NileFM, both prominent radio stations, entertainment news outlets ,and streaming patforms under NRP (Nile Radio Productions). This project aims to enhance the online presence and user experience of both radio stations, catering to their large, diverse audience and improving engagement with listeners and viewers. The new websites and mobile apps will be designed to provide seamless access to live broadcasts, news, on-demand content, and interactive features, elevating the digital experience for users.
The challenge
The NRP application was hosted on a cloud provider, but the existing Service Level Agreement (SLA) didn’t align well with the specific needs of the business. The nature of the solution made it particularly bandwidth-intensive, placing a strain on the capabilities of the cloud provider. The significant bandwidth consumption not only hampered the application’s performance but also presented a considerable challenge for the hosting platform to handle efficiently.
Beyond bandwidth challenges, the solution faced additional complexities due to numerous security issues within the platform. These security concerns raised alarms, necessitating a thorough examination and implementation of robust measures. The confluence of bandwidth demands and security vulnerabilities underscored the critical need for a more tailored hosting environment that could better cater to the unique requirements of the NRP application and ensure optimal performance and security. Addressing these issues became a top priority for enhancing the overall reliability and effectiveness of the NRP system.
Solution
The NRP is presented with four tailored cloud migration solutions: Rehosting (lift and shift) ensures seamless migration without application modifications; Replatforming (lift, tinker, and shift) focuses on optimizing efficiency and reducing costs; Refactoring or Re-architecting enhances agility and scalability by redesigning applications for cloud-native features; and Re-Installing offers a fresh deployment to avoid legacy issues, specifically beneficial for in-house applications. Rehosting guarantees uninterrupted migration for NRP, while Replatforming balances optimizations with application changes. Refactoring addresses limitations, enhances test coverage, and meets security requirements. Re-Installing provides a clean slate for NRP’s in-house applications, optimizing configurations. These strategies are customized to meet NRP’s diverse business needs during the cloud migration journey.
